Porsche Carrera GT for sale
The extraordinary Carrera GT (980) is a mid-engined supercar that Porsche produced between 2004 and 2007 in Leipzig. The motorsport heritage and indeed origins are plain to see, with development coming out of the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars - toward a new Le Mans competitor.
A concept car shown at the 2000 Paris Motor Show ignited interest, leading to a decision to build a short run of a road-going version at the new Porsche facility at Leipzig. The first Carrera GT was put on sale on January 31st 2004.
1,270 were built, all left hand drive, of which this is No.1224.
Innovative technology includes a pure carbon fibre monocoque and subframe and carbon fibre-reinforced ceramic composite brakes. The extraordinary 612 bhp 5.7 Litre V10 engine offers a 0-100 km/h of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph.
The six speed manual transmission even has a beechwood gear knob as a homage to those used in the Porsche 917 Le Mans racers.
This very fine example is presented in Basalt Black with leather-to-sample Austrian Red lightweight bucket seats and is an original UK supplied car.
It has driven 4,645 miles from new in 2006.
Readily road-usable, it is well mannered at lower speeds, and of course utterly thrilling when driven harder.
