Porsche 911 2.2 E for sale
Dubbed “The Secret Weapon from Zuffenhausen,” the 1970 Porsche 911E was the fastest 911 of the time.
Introduced as the 'upgraded' successor of the 911L and featuring the new 2.2 litre engine it sat between the 911T (Touring) and 911S (Sport) in the model range. The clue to the superb performance is in the designation 'E' - Einspritzung - the German for 'Injection'.
The Weber carbs of the other models were replaced with an innovative mechanical fuel injection system developed by Bosch & Porsche - leading to a power output of 158bhp. Despite the lower power output compared to the 911 2.2S, the 911E actually accelerated more quickly.
The new longer wheelbase and ventilated brake discs with aluminium calipers helped to offer enhanced driver feedback.
This 1971 left hand drive 'matching numbers' example has a 5-speed gearbox and is beautifully presented in the original colour scheme of Silver Metallic with black leatherette seats. It is fitted with a Panasonic radio and comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche.
